The 205mm Q-factor must be used for 27.5×4.5″ tires. However, when using 4″ or narrower tires, there is a real ergonomic advantage to riding in a more natural position with a tighter q-factor (distance between the pedals).
We therefore supply the 2 crankset spindle lengths with the complete bike. The crankset also includes a reversible chainring using a 3mm offset. Depending on the orientation of the chainring, the appropriate chain line can be obtained.
Here are a few possible configurations for the Torngat Ti:
RIM | TIRES | CRANKSET SPINDLE / Q-FACTOR | CHAINRING | REAR WHEEL POSITION |
---|---|---|---|---|
Mulefut 80SL | 45NRTH 27.5×4.5 | RF169 ‘Wide’ / 205mm | Non-Flip (3mm inward) | Front (short chainstay) |
Mulefut 80SL | Terrene 27.5×4 | RF149 ‘Narrow’ / 185mm | Flip (3mm outward) | Front or rear |
Duroc 40 | WTB Ranger 29×3 | RF149 ‘Narrow’ / 185mm | Flip (3mm outward) | Front or rear |
Mulefut 80SL | Terrene Cake Eater 27.5×4.5 | RF169 ‘Wide’ / 205mm | 0mm Offset* | Front (short chainstay) |
NOTE 1: TERRENE CAKE EATER 27.5×4.5 TIRE IS WIDER THAN THE 45NRTH OR VEE TIRE 27.5×4.5, HENCE THE RECOMMENDATION TO USE A 0MM OFFSET CHAINRING. NOTE THAT THE CHAIN LINE IS OFFSET OUTWARDS BY 3MM WITH THIS CONFIGURATION. ALSO, USING THIS CONFIGURATION, THE CHAIN MAY SLIGHTLY TOUCH THE TIRE WHEN ON THE 51T COG.
