Will Thompson

Home: Bellingham, WA, USA

Born and raised in Mamaroneck, New York, Will spent his formative years playing hockey and lacrosse and always enjoyed being outside and pedaling around the neighborhood. He took his first backpacking trip at age 10 to Harriman State Park and was immediately enthralled by the simple joys of camping. He attended Saint Michael’s College in Burlington, Vermont, graduating in 2013 with a degree in Environmental Studies.

That summer, Will and his friend, Nate, embarked on a self-supported cross country bicycle trip from New York to Washington State. Experiencing the different cultural and geographical cultures of the continent was empowering and he wanted to continue to connect with the world through biking.

In 2014, he rode from the Pacific Northwest to Los Cabos, Mexico, followed by Anchorage, Alaska to Bellingham, Washington in 2017. In 2019, Will pedaled the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route and the Colorado Trail. He has also logged hundreds of miles on the Appalachian Trail, trekked in Patagonia and done shorter tours in New England and the Pacific Northwest.

Will is passionate and dedicated to the power of bicycles and lives a car free lifestyle in Bellingham, Washington. He works in Special Education and can be found riding the steep loam and powder trails of Whatcom County or enjoying a strong cup of coffee and listening to the Grateful Dead.
